Little Bears Playhouse is a play-based early learning center located in the ski town of Girdwood, AK.

Little Bears is seeking engaging and devoted Lead and Assistant Teachers to help guide our students in their love of learning.

Requirements

• Highschool Diploma
• CPR/First Aid
• Food Handlers Card
• 24 hours of annual training

Assistant Teachers will be responsible in supporting the Lead Teacher and interacting with children throughout the day as they explore an intentionally created environment.

Responsibilities: Assistant Teacher

- Assist in prepping curriculum

- Guide children in their interactions with materials, peers, and their environment

- Model appropriate behaviors (including emotional regulation, social conflict resolution, grace, and courtesy).

- Assist children in daily care tasks (meals, toileting, hygiene, dressing)

- Work with children as the engage with materials in the classroom, offering support and encouragement

- Assist in outside play and developing gross motor activities for indoors

- Assist in cleaning throughout the center

- Develop family engagements, creating a welcoming and respectful environment

Lead Preschool Teacher will be responsible for developing the approved curriculum for their designated classroom and creating an aesthetically pleasing environment that children will find joy in as their learn.

Responsibilities: Lead Teacher

- Create developmentally appropriate curriculum, that is in line with NAEYC guidelines.

- Guide and observe children as they work with the prepared materials.

- Ensure scaffolding, supports, and extensions are individualized to ensure all children’s needs are being met.

- Model appropriate behaviors when interacting with the children, their families, and other staff.

- Document all injury and behavior challenges.

- Ensure your classroom is up to licensing regulations (i.e., emergency bag, emergency cards, materials are in good working order, staff daily documentation)

- Lead and assist children with their daily health needs (i.e., meals, toileting, hygiene, dressing).

- Engage with families at drop off/pick-up to create an open and respectful community.

- Prepare a monthly newsletter to the families of your enrolled students.

- Continue in your own professional development to ensure that you are current with the most respected practice.

- Change materials within the classroom, monthly, to reflect the current curriculum.

- Develop engaging and interactive large group and small group activities.

- Observe and document students progress within the classroom environment.

- Assist in cleaning throughout the center.
