Continue to develop your leadership skills and apply for one of the Assistant Aquatics Manager positions with the Village of Orland Park's award winning Centennial Park Aquatic Center (CPAC) this summer. As an Assistant Manager you will work closely with the Aquatics & Ice Rink Manager (Manager) to provide oversight of the day-to-day operations of CPAC.
Key Responsibilities:
This highly responsible position will serve as the Manager on Duty (MOD) during designated shifts ensuring the daily operational requirements of the facility are met. This includes promoting excellent customer service, and overseeing staff and facility operations with a focus on CPAC's number one objective: SAFETY.


In addition, Assistant Managers are responsible for ensuring successful training of rookie guards and recertification of veteran guards and contributing to their effectiveness. This position also assists the Manager with staff oversight, selection, training, evaluation, recommendations for corrective action, fosters a team environment, responds to and documents incidents during shifts, and makes recommendations regarding facility opening / closure status.

The following roles and their corresponding duties will be assigned by the Manager to the Assistant Managers at the beginning of each season.

In-Service Assistant Manager

Develop and coordinate all lifeguard in-service trainings. Provide an outline of the week’s in-service the Sunday prior to the week of in-service; coordinate with the Orland Park Fire Department (OPFD) to develop and host special in-service training sessions for both lifeguards and the management staff; record and monitor staff attendance for all in-service trainings; inform the Manager of any staff members that are deficient of in-service hours; develop and implement a Guard Games event; and monitor and facilitate participation of staff in attendance at the Guard Games event.

Operations Assistant Manager

Create the daily lifeguard schedule and pool rotation calendar; direct, mentor, and supervise Squad Leaders (SL); facilitate weekly meetings with Squad Leaders (SL) to ensure preparation for the weekly staff meetings; support staff in resolving staff issues; plan, oversee, and conduct the Junior Lifeguard program; and conduct first-aid and cleaning supplies inventory checks and order supplies when needed.

Learn-To-Swim (LTS) Assistant Manager

Hire, train, and supervise the Learn-to-Swim staff; conduct at least (1) performance evaluation per season for each Learn-to-Swim Instructor, as well as provide feedback and guidance to each instructor relative to their teaching skills; complete paperwork for each session within one week of session’s end; assist with the preparation of the Learn-to-Swim (LTS) section of the program brochure; and conduct “Meet the Staff” parent meetings for each Learn-to-Swim (LTS) session throughout the summer.

Special Events Assistant Manager

Collect the departure dates of lifeguard and management staff, as well as “coach’s notes” from high school staff to be used for developing the “temporary staff schedule” prior to August 1; develop the “temporary staff schedule” for lifeguard and management staff by August 1; purchase materials and coordinate setup / takedown for special events; and organize staff to assist with and oversee special events.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills:

This position requires a high school diploma. Coursework towards or a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

This position also requires that you are at least (18) years of age. Candidates must have been an effective Squad Leader for at least (1) year (or promoted to a Squad Leader prior to the end of the pool season) with a StarGuard Elite (SGE) Lifeguard Instructor 2-Star certification.

This position also requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; communicate effectively and give both verbal and written instruction; maintain confidential information; work within time constraints and prioritize work; maintain professionalism, objectivity and to be tactful and courteous in stressful situations. Willingness to work with and take responsibility for chemicals and mechanical equipment is also needed.

Hours - Assistant Managers are required to attend and complete all necessary pre-season and in-service training sessions and meetings. Must be able to work full-time during the summer, five to six days a week including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Regular season is Memorial Day weekend thru Labor Day.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Must be at least 18 years old; StarGuard Elite (SGE) Lifeguard Instructor 2-Star Certificatied by completing land and water training/test-out sessions. Returning 2 & 3-Star StarGuard Elite (SGE) Lifeguard Instructors will assist in creating and implementing a training curriculum to recertify the facility's staff.


Compensation & Benefits:
Pay range is $16.85/hour to $24.21/hour, depending on experience/qualification

Weekly hours required
:
In season (Memorial Day - Labor Day): up to 40 hours / week;
Off season 5-20 hours / week.
