Position Overview: The Assistant Controller oversees the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions of GLSS and related affiliates. This includes the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions in compliance with the organization's policies and procedures. The activity supports the preparation of financial statements and other management and third-party reporting. The Assistant Controller will manage a team of three (3), and will report to the organization's Controller.

Position Responsibilities: Manage the day-to-day accounting and transactional processing activities in the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions. Assist in design and implement policies and procedures, internal controls, and reporting mechanism to ensure complete and accurate processing and recording of financial activity. Perform monthly general ledger and bank account reconciliations monthly. Review and approve monthly account reconciliations prepared by others. Participate in or manage key projects under the direction of the Controller. Serve as a mentor and coach to accounting staff, delegate effectively, and develop a high performing team.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting required
  • MBA and/or CPA is a plus
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years progressive experience in nonprofit finance required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state laws and regulations, GAAP, audits, and compliance
  • Advanced technical skills: intermediate or advanced Microsoft Excel, Intacct, MAS 90, FRX, cloud-based software, and system implementation
  • Proven track record in building processes, systems, and teams to support organizational innovation
  • Strong communication skills; written and verbal; natural leader with exceptional collaborative skills
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, independent problem solver, team player, ability to meet deadlines

Hours:
40 hours Monday through Friday
