Wage band range $19.00 - $30.00 per hour

Starting pay is typically around $22.00 to $23.00 per hour; however, starting pay is ultimately determined by the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity

Shift: Wednesday through Saturday

Under the guidance of the Cottage Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the cottage.

The Assistant Cottage Supervisor carries out the mission of Casa Pacifica and the treatment philosophies and approaches as they pertain to day-to-day operations of a residential living unit. This includes direct supervision/training of the cottage youth development staff; effective implementation of treatment plans for each youth; and maintenance of a therapeutic environment within the cottage.

The Assistant Cottage Supervisor works closely with the Cottage Supervisor and will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises, protects and cares for the children/adolescents individual and in groups and ensures that his/her staff do the same.
  • Assist to each youth in working in a group and in handling individual problems.
  • Supervise youth development specialist staff to ensure consistency and continuity of program, addressing ongoing training needs as determined by Supervisor
  • Meets monthly with all team members to develop review performance goals and communicates with Supervisor regarding goals.
  • Works effectively with clinicians to provide a sound treatment program for the milieu.
  • Ensures proper protocol regarding cottage security, notification of Lead Behavior Specialist, Clinician and Cottage Supervisor when a crisis occurs.
  • Reviews all incident reports to ensure all information is completed and distributed as assigned.
  • Reviews all previous day’s happenings including main log, reviewing all outstanding behavioral contracts, getting updated information from AM lead, Supervisor and Clinician and obtaining school information.
  • Plans monthly activity calendar, ensuring proper delegation of supervision duties for each staff. Coordinate supervision for on and off campus activities, including treatment teams.
  • Maintains a daily caseload needed or assigned.
  • May require attendance at management meetings and assume all delegated supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Must meet at least one of the following requirements prior to employment:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree;
  • Have a valid Child Development Training Permit, or Vocational Training Certificate; or completed 12 semester units of Early Childhood education and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth;
  • Previously been employed as a staff or volunteer at a group home or short-term residential therapeutic center for 1 year, and/or prior experience working with severely emotionally disturbed children and adolescents.
  • Relevant life experience in the child welfare, mental health or juvenile justice system as a consumer, mentor, or caregiver or other relevant experience as determined by the department.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Position requires staff must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Completed and cleared Live scan, criminal statement, health screening with TB test.
  • Must undergo a one-hour training which reviews mandatory reporting requirements as per Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA).
  • This training takes place during pre-service orientation training and periodically thereafter.
  • Valid driver’s license is required for transporting youths. Any changes that occurs on your driving record must be reported immediately to your supervisor.
