Threemile Canyon Farms is seeking to add an Assistant Farm Controller to their Farm Team. This individual will be a natural leader to assist in the development and mentoring of the accounting team along with supporting a variety of accounting functions. This individual will get the opportunity to be challenged working for a complex, fast paced entrepreneurial organization and be a change agent to continue to evolve the accounting function.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively involved in the monthly closing process
  • Performs inventory valuation, inventory reconciliations and other non-inventory account reconciliations monthly
  • Reviews and prepares numerous journal entries
  • Prepares detailed analysis of monthly financial results
  • Prepares monthly financial workpapers
  • Prepares monthly financial statements
  • Prepares annual budgets
  • Oversees inventory adjustments by accounting staff
  • Prepares financial analysis and reports for senior management
  • Analysis of capital purchases and payback
  • Maintain working relationships with customers, vendors, corporate, and farm office
  • Supervise a team of employees in support of Threemile Canyon Farm’s operations, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; assisting employees in career growth and development
  • Prepares and monthly financial statement PAKS for the Northwest and Corporate offices
  • Prepares accrual to cash conversions for income tax planning and preparation
  • Prepares foot notes for annual financial statements
  • Ad hoc projects as directed by the assistant controller.

What we require from you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is preferred.
  • 3 – 5 years progressive experience in accounting.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • System knowledge should include high proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft Office products. Experience with Great Plains Accounting Software or similar accounting programs preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting processes (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger), reconciling accounts, and processing book closings.
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze complex business processes and identify risk; apply sound, well-balanced reasoning to reach decisions quickly and accurately.
  • Strong skills in business writing and editing; strong communication skills (oral and written); communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and external contacts; ability to create and host presentations.
  • Strong project management skills; time management skills; multi-task and prioritize workloads; demonstrated analytical capabilities; effectively identify and resolve problems in high visibility, high stress situations.
  • Able to lead, motivate and develop staff; participate in a team environment; delegate responsibility.
  • Assist employees in writing processes and procedures pertaining to their position as well as identifying a backup for each team member.
