Assistant Manager Production - Advanced Processing

Role Purpose:
This role will be responsible alongside the Sr. Production Manager for all safety, quality, productivity, and financial aspects within the region regarding Iota processing.
Responsiblities:
1) Safety, Training & Development
  • Ensure plant compliance with MSHA/OSHA regulations; initiate immediate corrective action when discrepancies identified
  • Compliance with Sibelco safety policies & procedures
  • Ensure Safety is being promoted, monitored, KPI targets achieved
  • 5S implementation, monitoring, and guidance
  • Enforce housekeeping best practices
  • Review, recommend & approve actions regarding staffing, compensation, development & training for Supervisors and hourly personnel
  • Administer disciplinary action in accordance with the Sibelco Employee Handbook
  • Complete annual performance reviews of Shift Supervisors, assess competency, develop tailored training plan to support personal growth
  • Set work schedules for Supervision. Work with Supervisors to schedule operators – coordinate to prevent resource related plant downtime
  • Approve salary time, competency in Workday
  • Full transparency with the Performance team at all times
  • Professionalism within the organization and outside the organization at all times
  • Communication after hours when needed
2) Operation/Quality/Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure Quality is being promoted, monitored, policies & procedures followed, and KPI targets achieved
  • Review and monitor analytical reports for Red Hill and Crystal Plants; research inferior analysis to determine root cause
  • Interface with Environmental Supervisor to ensure environmental controls and operation are properly followed to maintain compliance and employees are properly trained
  • Assist in setting production expectations/scheduling – improving equipment availability & utilization to meet scheduled production targets
  • Advise production manager of any potential problem that might affect the ability of operations to produce quality product in a safe, efficient manner including personnel, equipment, transportation, consumables, and raw material availability
  • Communication with Red Hill and the Crystal Plant Supervisory Staff – unifying the two plants to optimize production safely
  • Ensure plants are operating at optimal performance levels, monitor production rates, critical operating parameters, equipment availability & performance
  • Presence in the field at each plant required daily
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement projects consistent with company policy by being alert to opportunities and by drawing out suggestions from plant personnel
  • Monitor integrity of assets, recommend projects to increase life or replace – assist with Capital planning
  • Be abreast of alternate technologies, recommend ways to increase efficiency, reduce maintenance, foster automation
  • Attend required meetings
  • Generate performance & production reports as needed
  • Monitoring overtime to meet financial goals <10 % O/T
  • Schedule material moves between plants and warehouses to maximize production (minimize downtime), competency in SAP and MES
  • Monitor, record and meet all required KPI’s; replace KPIs as needed to support growth
  • Assume full responsibility of the Production manager role during absences
  • Other duties as assigned by the Sr. Production Manager
About you:
  • A good working understanding of chemical processes – prior experience in a chemical processing plant preferred
  • 5 years in a Management role
  • Bachelors degree in Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • MSHA / OSHA experience
  • English – proficient verbal & writing
