the girl & the fig CATERS! is currently seeking an experienced Assistant Pastry Chef.

We are a restaurant group with multiple locations in the Sonoma Valley, which includes the girl & the fig in Sonoma, the fig cafe in Glen Ellen, the girl & the fig CATERS!, Suite D, and our FIGfood product line. We strive to use the best in local, sustainable food, and we continually develop many in-house programs to promote those ideals. Assistant Pastry Chefs assist in providing excellent quality, consistency, and presentation of all pastries, cakes, and desserts for guests in the restaurant and catered events.

Essential Duties...

• Assist in production for restaurant locations, including desserts, ice cream, and breads
• Assist in development, production and decoration of custom cake orders
• Prepare and decorate a variety of goods, such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread, etc.
• Handle food properly and understand use of kitchen tools, equipment, and safety procedures
• Maintain an organized and clean work area and a high level of kitchen cleanliness

Qualifications...

• Must have at least two years of applicable experience
• Ability to provide or complete CA Food Handler certification and renew as necessary
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, recipe books, and procedural manuals

Physical Demands...

• Ability to lift up to 50lbs and regularly move items between 10-20lbs
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• An acute sense of taste and smell

• This is an Assistant Pastry Chef I position. The hourly wage range for this position is: $21.50 to $28.00
• Starting wage is dependent on experience and qualifications
• Potential for growth into Assistant Pastry Chef II and/or Pastry Chef
