Youngker High School is seeking an Assistant Principal for the 2022-2023 School Year, starting July 1, 2022.


TITLE: Assistant Principal


EMPLOYMENT TERMS: 1.0 FTE; 12-Month position


SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Administrative


GENERAL STATEMENT of RESPONSIBILITIES:


The Assistant Principal will be responsible for supporting the site Principal in providing leadership in areas of Education programs, Student Conduct, Operations, and Resources.


PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

  • Work well with students who struggle academically.
  • Incorporate behavior modification in an effective manner.
  • Assist the site Principal and work collaboratively with the administrative team to supervise teachers and evaluate class performance.
  • Use multiple sources of data to assess student progress and school improvement.
  • Discipline students effectively and communicate discipline policy with parents.
  • Successfully work with parents, staff, counselors, and administration.
  • Stay current on the state’s policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Attend School Board, Cabinet, and Principal’s meetings, as requested by Site Principal.


OCCUPATIONAL CONDITION:

Low risk - Work is routinely performed in indoor environments, including exposure to noise and being on your feet for extended periods of time. May require standing in inclement weather including summer heat.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree with coursework in Administration
  • Valid AZ Department of Education Secondary Principal Certificate
  • Successful experience in Teaching Secondary Education
  • Commitment to active student learning
  • Experience in curriculum development and alignment of state standards
  • Evidence of cooperative and caring human relationships, and team-building skills
  • Two years of related experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach students who exhibit inappropriate behaviors and social skills.
  • Coordinates related communications/conferences with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Develop academic programs for individualized instruction.
  • Coordinate instruction with core area teachers.
  • Participate in proctoring school, district, and state assessments and supporting staff in organizing and parent communications.
  • Support school administration in maintaining the school’s budget and records, as needed.
  • Assesses, organizes, and oversees the use of school resources (staff, equipment, facilities)
  • Register students, read transcripts and post grades to transcripts.
  • Counsel students and parents.
  • Overseas collection of data and required reporting for continuous school improvement in a team setting.
  • Maintains student records in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements.
  • Assists in the selection, hiring, and evaluation of staff members.
  • Supervises students, athletics, and activities including school and non-school hours.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by site Principal.


KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of secondary school education and administration.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills as well as attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to analyze data in various applications including excel.
  • Modern office technology.

EVALUATION PROCEDURE:

The evaluation is done by the Site Principal.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Assistant Principal reports directly to the Site Principal.
