Job Summary

The Assistant Vice President of Division Operations leads financial management, philanthropy and stewardship support operations, scholarship management, reporting and audit support, and other aspects of operational infrastructure for the division of University Relations and Development. The incumbent also maintains a legacy portfolio of major donors.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple, complex activities simultaneously, and strong organizational skills. Ability to manage professional staff working on multiple deadline driven projects simultaneously while maintaining quality service, meeting deadlines, and meeting goals of university/division. Highly effective supervisory skills as well and excellent project management skills. Demonstrated interpersonal skills to establish and maintain good working relationships with both internal and external constituents. Extensive knowledge of best practices in advancement and development operations within a university setting. Comprehensive knowledge of general office methods, practices, and procedures.

Comprehensive knowledge of CSU policies, procedures, programs, guidelines, applicable state and federal laws, educational codes, and collective bargaining agreements. High level of creativity, initiative, and motivation. Ability to anticipate needs, see opportunities and use good judgment in dealing with confidential information. Ability to analyze and review operational procedures, identify problem areas, and optimize performance through procedural changes. Knowledge of fundraising principles and practice. Knowledge of database administration and prospect research. Knowledge of moves management process: identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and minimum of three years relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in development services, functions, and office management experience. Significant experience in fundraising and development operations in higher education is preferred.

Licenses / Certificates

Valid CA Driver's License is required.

Compensation

The anticipated hiring range is up to $13,750 per month, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The salary range for this position is $11,064 to $16,596 per month.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
