Job Overview:

The HYCO Operation Excellence group has an opening for a HyCO Performance Manager to support our HyCO production facilities in the US. The successful candidate will be located primarily in the Houston, TX area and report to the Operations Excellence Director.

This role will be responsible for leading the HyCO Efficiency/Performance and APC teams. The Efficiency/Performance team focuses on reducing HYCO plants’ variable costs through monitoring/analyzing plant efficiencies and identifying opportunities to eliminate bottlenecks in existing facilities. This team identifies and analyzes deviations from intended process operation; determines likely reasons for deviation; identifies solutions and defines implementation via cost reduction projects. APC team is responsible for successful implementation of new MPC projects as well as monitoring and support of existing MPC applications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the fleet efficiency work process; provide guidance to annual efficiency goals and assist regional plants in achieving plant efficiency and performance KPI targets
  • Identify, justify and define cost reduction projects; participates in project implementation as SME support.
  • Supervise APC new project implementation within schedule and approved budget
  • Coordinate MPC monitoring and support activities to achieve at least 90% MPC utilization
  • Translate strategic direction into tactical plans and implementation activities
  • Review work in terms of meeting the business/ function objectives and timelines
  • Interfaces with middle and senior management
  • Take lead role in interactions with colleagues and internal/ external customers
  • Provide regular technical assistance to other departments within HyCO business including product management, pipeline operating center and business development.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a process engineering function in operations or engineering in the industrial gas, chemicals, refining/petrochemical and/or steam generation industries
  • Knowledge of industrial gas processes, including steam methane reformers (SMR’s), autothermal reformers (ATR’s) and others for production of hydrogen, carbon monoxide, syngas and related products
  • Knowledge of process controls and optimization and basic familiarity with instrumentation systems is preferred.
  • Proven ability to assess plant performance and reconcile performance based on process modeling and data.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate ideas and develop them into improvement projects.
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to champion new ideas and work across the organization to identify opportunities and deliver results.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across multiple departments within Linde Plc. such as operations, engineering, business development and R&D
  • Domestic travel is required (< 30%>)
