JVS SoCal is a non-profit, non-sectarian social service agency, which for over 90 years has provided employment and career services to a diverse client population. JVS-SoCal assists individuals in defining and achieving their employment goals through vocational training, career and employment counseling, job search skills instruction, job development, job placement assistance, and vocational assessment and training.

JVS SoCal’s Workforce Development Department is comprised of five WorkSource/AJCC Centers located in Lancaster, Palmdale, West Los Angeles, Patriotic Hall, and South Los Angeles that serve Youth (14-24), Adults, Dislocated Workers, Veterans and others.

Job Description and Duties:

This position will report to the Director of Workforce Development and will lead the overall management, operations, performance and contract compliance for the West Los Angeles/West Hollywood and South Los Angeles AJCC/WorkSource Programs. As a key member of the Workforce Leadership team, this position will supervise all operations and performance including recertification and compliance to Malcom Baldridge standards. Will oversee the collaboration with department managers, playing a role in continuous quality control and improvement. Responsible for monitoring department budgets totaling around $3.5M to ensure appropriate allocation of spending, in coordination with Director and Finance Team. Will hire, train, coach, and manage program staff, supervisors and managers. In partnership with the Director, will develop policies and processes to support, enhance and improve performance and outcomes. Will attend County/City/South Bay contract meetings, and interact with government staff. In partnership with Director of Workforce Development and Director of Government Affairs will met with local officials and government staff. Will participate in contract negotiation sessions, and take the lead representing the Center during monitoring site visits. Will work with the Director and Grants Dept. to explore and develop new funding opportunities, partnerships and collaborations as well as participate in proposal writing. Attend agency senior management meetings and other agency meetings.

Qualifications and Position Requirements:

Required:

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience such as contract administration, workforce development, project management or HR management.

· Experienced leader in managing high performance teams, with demonstrated history driving outcomes.

· Proven ability to motivate and create a work culture that supports respect and collaboration between work teams and other agency departments.

· Skilled in developing staff with an open exchange of ideas.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in management, human services, education or training.
  • Five or more years of management and team leadership experience within workforce development or project management.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

Ability to operate standard office equipment, work in an office environment, and travel to meetings throughout L.A. County. EOE. Good benefits.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
