THE OPPORTUNITY

The Associate Manufacturing Engineer implements and maintains plant equipment, systems and other fixed assets to a high standard of safety, quality and productivity at the lowest possible cost while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. This role provides mechanical and process support to all aspects of the operation.

What You'll Work On

  • Independently conceives and develops approaches to problem solving that requires advanced technical knowledge of mechanical systems and mechanical design.
  • Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of small to medium projects.
  • Facilitates the design changes using the principals of validation change control
  • Leads production equipment troubleshooting from a mechanical perspective
  • Directs the efforts of others such as technicians and outside resources
  • Interfaces with project team members, department managers, designers, R&D and Corporate and Division Engineering
  • Able to write Bid/Scope Documents and update engineering standards
  • Able to learn AutoCAD

Design Engineering

  • Complete mechanical and process engineering activities, incorporating best available technologies while adhering to Abbott policies, regulatory requirements, GMP standards, Abbott Engineering Standards and Environmental Health/Safety regulations
  • Create equipment/process specifications, and drawings as required and ensure that existing documentation is accurate and appropriate
  • Research, recommend, implement and qualify replacement parts for discontinued/obsolete components, equipment and software


Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering or closely related technology discipline with an emphasis on mechanical systems.
  • Able to quickly gain knowledge or skill and willingly absorb and comprehend Abbott processes, policies, and methods.
  • Able to gain knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals
