Associate Medical Director, Behavioral Health (Psychiatrist)


General Description:

The Associate Medical Director for Behavioral Health will be responsible for the implementation and oversight of an integrated clinical practice delivery model. Directly supervises behavioral health providers and collaborates with the Chief Medical Officer and other Associate Medical Directors to ensure a high standard of quality care delivery across Premier Community HealthCare (PCHG). Provides and manages direct health care for a specified patient population. Promote the adoption of clinical innovation and best practices to support a wide variety of operational activities.

Will also serve as an acting Psychiatrist working with adults and children experiencing mental illness or psychological distress. This key Provider role will assess, work-up, diagnose and provide psychiatric treatment and follow up care to patients of all age group.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Through supervision and coordination with Chief Medical Officer (CMO), ensure the organization achieves all intended clinical outcomes, and demonstrates true leadership and best practices in the health care services offered.
  • Assist CMO in the supervision of the clinical activities of behavioral health providers directly or by delegation.
  • Provides patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the treatment of mental health problems and the promotion of mental health and wellbeing.
  • Assess, work-up, diagnose and provide psychiatric treatment and follow up care to patients of all age groups.
  • Adheres to all clinical protocols and actively participates in the improvement of Behavioral Health services.
  • Communicates in collaboration with PCHG, Chief Medical Officer, Clinical Director of Behavioral Health, Operations, and other Clinicians to facilitate the smooth flow in the process of Behavioral Health affairs, including time appropriate consultation as required for patient care.
  • Documents in a timely fashion accurate accounts of interactions with patients in Electronic Health Records in compliance with PCHG’s protocol.
  • Assist CMO with provider retention efforts including appropriate mentoring and on-boarding of new providers.
  • Participates in development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, objectives, short- and long-range planning for specialty of oversight; develops tracking and evaluation programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
  • Collaborate with Premier Community HealthCare Group management team in ongoing management planning and decision making.
  • Collaborate with the Training and Development team to build training and development plans for providers to deliver quality care, efficient services and exceptional customer service.
  • Participates in clinical privileging, appointment and re-appointment of medical staff
  • Collaborates with all levels of leadership in the delivery of quality patient care, maintenance of clinical documentation, integration of electronic health records, and handling of complaints and/or psychiatric/ medical emergencies.
  • Responsibilities include consulting and assisting senior leadership in identifying, managing and implementing process and quality improvement strategies and projects.
  • Develops process improvement plans which identify key issues, problems, solution approaches, performance metrics and resources required.
  • Participates in and actively adheres to patient care expectations to attain clinical goals set forth in Premier Community HealthCare Group Health Care Plans and the Quality Improvement / Quality Assurance (QI/QA) program.
  • Represents the organization at various community and/or business meetings, committees, and task forces; promotes existing and new programs and/or policies.
  • Ensure all front office support meet or exceed all financial and patient services goals according to organizational policy and regulatory standards.
  • Train, coach and develop team members, including staffing and managing performance related concerns
  • Ensure confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times
  • Keep other care team members informed when situations occur that disrupts timely patient flow through site.
  • Adhere to patient care needs and the core values of Premier Community HealthCare to a provide best-in-class patient experience
  • Work towards attaining department goals and drive Quality Improvement / Quality Assurance (QI/QA)
  • Other duties as assigned


Supervisory responsibilities:
Direct supervisory responsibility, including the day-to-day operations and the annual performance evaluation may be delegated by the CMO. Indirectly manage and supervise non-clinical personnel as delegated.

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO from an accredited school of medicine.
  • If medical education was obtained outside the US, documentation from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) is required
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida and Board Eligible or Board Certified.
  • Completed residency in Psychiatry within the United States or as deemed relevant by the CMO
  • Current BLS/CPR Certification
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a federal and state narcotic registration.
  • Ten (10) years proven successful experience as a practicing clinician.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Experience with healthcare information system, such as electronic health record (EHR)
  • Experience in a multiple provider medical practice
  • Eligible for hospital privileges
