We are looking for someone to:
  • Develop and maintain relationships with network of loan origination sources
  • Regularly solicit new business from correspondent mortgage bankers, seeking to finance institutional-quality commercial real estate that meets approved investment policy guidelines
  • Evaluate and qualify mortgage loan investments by screening preliminary loan offerings, evaluating quantitative factors using computer spreadsheet software
  • Assess qualitative and subjective elements of loan offerings; able to render independent judgments and opinions regarding risks, strengths and weaknesses
  • Identify key information quickly when evaluating transactions, in order to focus time, energy and resources on the most promising and profitable investment offerings
  • With limited guidance from Department Manager, work directly and effectively with correspondents and legal counsel to negotiate acceptable terms of loan applications
  • Conduct thorough underwriting of formal investment offerings, examining for completeness and adequacy of information in arriving at informed decisions
  • Prepare written recommendations to the Investment Committee via an Investment Offering Memorandum and supporting schedules
  • Perform periodic due diligence with on-site inspection of proposed investments, meeting with correspondent mortgage banker, borrower, property manager, leasing agents and tenants
  • Provide support for loan closings by reviewing third party reports including appraisal, environmental, seismic and property condition studies
  • Assist junior staff with construction/perm loans and draw requests as needed
  • Monitor delinquent loans and conduct collection efforts with loan servicers, reporting on activity to Department Manager
  • Travel to meet with and solicit correspondents for new investments, perform property inspections, attend industry education/conferences
  • Oversee property management personnel; assist with creation of annual operating budget
  • Analyze lease proposals and negotiate acceptable terms, recommend and monitor capital expenditure budgets, recommend and execute property disposition strategies, assist with negotiation of purchase/sale agreements
  • Monitor real estate financial performance via monthly property management reports
What you will Bring:
  • Significant body of direct experience (7+years) in commercial real estate finance with a portfolio lender
  • Comprehensive knowledge of real estate capital markets and commercial property markets
  • Credit underwriting, financial analysis and essentials of commercial real estate law essentials of commercial real estate law
  • Effective relationship-building and maintenance, a respected team player
  • Strong analytical skills necessary to critique and interpret complex data
  • Results orientation – a track record of consistently achieving objectives
  • Good organizational skills, prioritizes multiple tasks in order to meet deadlines and provide timely responses to internal and external customers
  • Communicates well (including the ability to listen and question); able to articulate information clearly and succinctly in a variety of settings and to differing audiences
  • Accepts change and adapts to it, understands that change is beneficial and strives to improve work processes
  • Comfortable with a large measure of independence while accepting of constructive criticism, feedback and recommendations from division and department managers
  • Able to negotiate skillfully, settle differences, and win concessions without damaging relationships, evidencing diplomacy while gaining trust of others
  • Works harmoniously with a variety of people to gain their respect, cooperation and trust
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university within the Business or Business Administration program(preferable majors include Finance, Economics or Marketing)
  • Demonstrated commitment to commercial real estate finance industry education:
  • Active participation in local and national commercial real estate trad organizations
  • Achievement of industry designation(s) such as “CCIM” and/or “CRI
