We Are Looking For Someone Like You

As an Associate Purchasing Agent, you will be a vital member of Murphy’s Purchasing team. You will be responsible for selecting, ordering, and procuring the necessary equipment, materials, and services to ensure the business meets appropriate budget requirements and deadlines.

Your Day-to-Day at Murphy Company
  • Supporting project/field operations
  • Requesting proposals from and communicating orders to suppliers
  • Communicating order status as appropriate to project personnel
  • Following up with vendors as needed to confirm order status
  • Soliciting bids for buyouts as appropriate
  • Directing the shipment of orders. Ensuring that delivery methods are understood and accounted for
  • Communicating tax status of projects to vendors
  • Interfacing with the accounting department to facilitate payments
  • Providing a high level of customer service to internal customers
  • Periodically meeting with existing and new vendors and suppliers to continuously evaluate the available products and services from the supplier community
  • Documenting purchases in our ERP system such that the information may be utilized by other Murphy personnel and deliver appropriate documentation to suppliers

Our ideal candidate should possess the following traits:

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with Supply Chain Management emphasis
  • General business Computer Skills including Outlook, Excel, Word, and internet-based systems. You will be trained in our ERP system
  • Willingness to develop the knowledge of the products and components that are incorporated into the systems we build and service
  • Willingness to engage our established supplier base as well as to seek new suppliers when needed
  • Willingness to learn how to read construction specifications
