This Opportunity

WSP is seeking a Resiliency and Sustainability Professional for our office in Troy (Albany), New York City, or Buffalo, New York that is able to work throughout New York State. This position will lead and contribute to projects and strategies related to Energy Planning / Efficiency, Community Engagement, and Sustainability and Resiliency.

Our successful candidate must have experience or training in areas including energy efficiency / energy planning (experience with New York State / New York State Energy Research and Development Authority [NYSERDA] energy programs and/or New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Office of Climate preferred), community engagement / outreach and planning.

Your Impact

  • Managing projects and project tasks, organizing project deliverables, quality control of deliverables, and working between client, project managers and other project team members
  • Responding to client requests for identifying and successfully applying resources to meet program objectives
  • Providing assistance to applicants seeking, applying for, and implementing state funded projects
  • Leading and supporting ongoing clean energy, energy efficiency, energy resilience, planning, implementation, and outreach projects
  • Leading and participating in stakeholder outreach and education events via in-person (throughout the state), webinars and phone
  • Developing reports, memos, presentations, marketing materials and other deliverables
  • Work with cross-functional teams.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Masters Degree preferred) in resiliency/sustainability, planning, engineering, environmental science, or related discipline
  • 1 to 3 years of post education experience.
  • Availability to work 40 hours/week
  • Relevant experience with climate adaptation, community outreach and stakeholder engagement for renewable energy, energy efficiency
  • Professional experience in energy (e.g. feasibility analysis for measures to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions), resiliency and sustainability planning, or other related services
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Competent self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Basic proficiency with business writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and/or training with NYSERDA programs (associated with the Local Communities and Government Program) or comparable programs outside of New York State

Compensation and Benefits:

WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings focused on providing health and financial responsibility throughout the employee's career.

Expected Salary: $65,700 - $90,310

WSP USA is providing the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law.
