Position Summary:
The Associate Teacher will participate in lesson planning; implement individualized curriculum developed for our students; perform as a substitute teacher; contribute to supportive and challenging classroom environments; work collaboratively; and use developmentally appropriate instructional methods, under the supervision of the Special Education Director.
Key/Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Collaborates with classroom teacher in performance of teaching functions.

Provides instructional and behavioral management support to students.

Works with children in a small and large group setting as well as individually under the supervision of the Director of Special Education.

Delivers lessons to students both individually and in small groups.

Oversees various classrooms of 6 to 8 school-aged children with brain injuries or brain-based disabilities when necessary and appropriate.

Participates in IEP meetings when necessary and appropriate.

Communicates with parents, staff and administration as appropriate

Supports and provides direction and supervision to the paraprofessionals in the classroom.

Collaborates in the planning and implementation of a supportive and challenging developmentally appropriate program.

Collaborates with each student’s therapy team as necessary and appropriate and implements therapy recommendations in the classroom as appropriate.

Participates in setting up, cleaning and maintaining classroom equipment and supplies.

Performs all other duties, as assigned
Minimum Qualification Requirements
-
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in education or related field or Level III Teacher’s Assistant Certificate
-
Exhibits exceptional interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills
-
Exhibits the ability to take initiative.

A highly flexible personality type.
Preferred Qualification Requirements
-
Two years of experience in an educational setting preferred.
-
Current enrollment in Master’s Program for Special Education Teacher’s Certificate preferred.

Compensation Range:

$49,000 $53,000 per year
