Position Summary:
The Associate Teacher will participate in lesson planning; implement individualized curriculum developed for our students; perform as a substitute teacher; contribute to supportive and challenging classroom environments; work collaboratively; and use developmentally appropriate instructional methods, under the supervision of the Special Education Director.
Key/Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with classroom teacher in performance of teaching functions.
  • Provides instructional and behavioral management support to students.
  • Works with children in a small and large group setting as well as individually under the supervision of the Director of Special Education.
  • Delivers lessons to students both individually and in small groups.
  • Oversees various classrooms of 6 to 8 school-aged children with brain injuries or brain-based disabilities when necessary and appropriate.
  • Participates in IEP meetings when necessary and appropriate.
  • Communicates with parents, staff and administration as appropriate
  • Supports and provides direction and supervision to the paraprofessionals in the classroom.
  • Collaborates in the planning and implementation of a supportive and challenging developmentally appropriate program.
  • Collaborates with each student’s therapy team as necessary and appropriate and implements therapy recommendations in the classroom as appropriate.
  • Participates in setting up, cleaning and maintaining classroom equipment and supplies.
  • Performs all other duties, as assigned
Minimum Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in education or related field or Level III Teacher’s Assistant Certificate
  • Exhibits exceptional interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Exhibits the ability to take initiative.
  • A highly flexible personality type.
Preferred Qualification Requirements
  • Two years of experience in an educational setting preferred.
  • Current enrollment in Master’s Program for Special Education Teacher’s Certificate preferred.

Compensation Range:
  • $49,000 $53,000 per year
