TITLE: Athletic Trainer
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director, Assistant Athletic Director
SUPERVISES: School Physical Therapist, Student-athletes, volunteers
JOB SUMMARY:
Develop, coordinate and administer a comprehensive sports medical program for the Layton Christian Academy athletics program. The head athletic trainer will also perform professional and administrative services essential for the successful implementation and development of the program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Current State Licensure for Athletic Training
- Credentialed as an Athletic Trainer through the Board of Certification (BOC)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Develop overall sports medicine program for the school, including injury prevention programs, injury evaluations, injury management, injury treatment and rehabilitation, educational programs, and counseling for student-athletes
2. Provide athletic training services for LCA’s athletic department, including attendance at scheduled team practices and home and away competitions as necessary
3. Coordinate and schedule physical examinations and medical referrals for student-athletes to determine their ability to practice and compete
4. Responsible for forming the school’s athletic training staff, including hiring, training, and supervising any support staff.
5. Work with the strength and conditioning staff to ensure safety in designing and implementing fitness, nutrition, and conditioning programs customized to meet individual student-athlete needs.
6. Keep office hours where students can come by and have an injury evaluated.
7. Make referrals for medical care with outside care providers while working with the administration.
8. Be available for practice in the gym and on the field.
9. Assist the Principal in the development of the sports medicine program budget
10. Evaluate and recommend new techniques and equipment that would enhance the benefit of the sports medicine program.
11. Serve as the official weather watcher for all outdoor contests.
12. Communicate with appropriate staff regarding the students’ care.
13. Record keeping and documentation
Other Qualifications/Skills:
1. Previous experience in the sports medicine field.
2. Experience working in a fast-paced environment
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
4. Highly developed organizational skills are required.

7. Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
8. Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently.
9. Understanding that this position is exempt and will have variable hours
