Purpose
The purpose of this classification, under general direction, is to produce accurate computer-generated engineering drawings, as-built drawings, maps and maintain and retrieve information on underground city utilities, drawings files, maps, property parcels and right of ways. Employees in this classification perform technical drafting and cost estimation work. Position is responsible for producing scaled working drawings in the production of engineering drawings, plans and property maps. Performs related work as required. Minimum Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience - Associates degree with training emphasis in Technical drawing, and AutoCAD; supplemented by 3 to 5 years previous experience and/or training involving experience as a Cad Technician in a civil engineering office. Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Produces engineering drawings from survey data using AutoCAD software.
Produces survey data for reduction.
Prepares cross section and profile drawings using AutoCAD software.
Creates topographic maps of proposed easements and right of ways, and property boundaries on computer.
Researches information of existing utilities and properties, right of ways and tax parcels.
Creates maps of city showing various forms of spatial data on computer.
Identifies conflicts between existing city utilities and proposed FDOT and county projects; prepares relocation information for FDOT and county projects.
Prepares maps for other city departments.
Develops and maintains system for numbering and tracking survey data and AutoCAD projects; develops and maintains database for tracking all drawings on file.
Verifies accuracy of calculations on bid documents; performs calculations for inverts, pipe slopes, restrained joints and other engineering functions.

Has considerable knowledge of principles and practices of technical drafting and cost estimation work.
