GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This position assists the Medical Records department with maintaining the medical records system, gives technical assistance and processes, and maintains a variety of information and data.

The Wyoming Life Resource Center serves residents in an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) and a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
  • Gather, examine, establish, analyze, record, and maintain information in the electronic health record.
  • Complete chart analysis and update information as needed.
  • Obtain client medical treatment records from outside sources and scan them into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Scan agency-generated documents, correspondence, and other pertinent information into the EHR.
  • File all medical records in the permanent medical chart. Maintained files of completed records.
  • Purge permanent medical records and file in backup medical records per schedule.
  • Break down the client's permanent medical chart following discharge or death and forward it to Records.
  • Work with Information Technology (IT) staff, Providers, and Records staff to maintain and upgrade the electronic medical record to best suit the facility's needs.
  • Perform a variety of tasks associated with the implementation, evaluation, and retention of records systems. Utilize various types of software and databases.
  • Verify legitimacy and process release of information requests to internal and external entities.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality of all medical information at all times.
  • Create and disseminate reports.
  • Correspond with the public and other agencies and provide and/or gather information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


PREFERENCES:

Preference may be given to applicants with one or more years of experience working with medical records information and systems.

KNOWLEDGE:


  • Knowledge of the agency.
  • Knowledge of computer & software applications, mathematical formulas, and spreadsheet software.
  • Knowledge of records management systems.
  • Ability to communicate in a positive and effective manner verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of personal computers including software such as word processors, spreadsheets, relational database programs, and hardware, such as scanning and imaging systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience Substitution:
2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Records and Data Management) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Records & Data Management Technician

OR

Education:
Associate's Degree (typically in Records or Data Management)

Experience:
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Records and Data Management) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Records & Data Management Technician

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, etc.

  • FLSA: Non-Exempt
  • The Wyoming Life Resource Center participates in E-Verify. We will provide the Social Security Administration, and if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security, with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.   • A background check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, Department of Family Services, and the F.B.I. for every successful applicant.

  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be conducted on safety-sensitive positions. Drug testing will be conducted on any position if reasonable suspicion exists.
