Behavioral Assistant Job at Loudoun County School District
Position Overview
This employee assists students with social-emotional and behavioral challenges at school locations as assigned under the direction of the Special Education Supervisor/Coordinator.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Participates in on-going training in highly specialized strategies and interventions for implementing individualized behavior plans under the direction of LCPS staff.
- Responsible for collecting and maintaining accurate data as required by student behavior plans.
- Implementation of Positive Behavior Strategies.
- Utilize the specialized strategies to address student behaviors to maintain student and staff safety.
- Support special education programs for students with intensive support needs in an itinerant capacity as determined by the Special Education Specialist/Coordinator
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Experience working with students with social-emotional and behavioral challenges, or any equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstration of knowledge, abilities, and skills to effectively manage the behaviors of children with behavioral challenges and the ability to collect, record, and use behavioral data
- Possesses the ability to perform basic first aid and emergency treatment procedures
- Works well with children with physical challenges
- National Safety Council First Aid and CPR certifications (provided during training)
- Current MANDT and UKERU training required, or ability to obtain prior to start date
- Effective verbal and written communications skills with staff, parents, students and community members.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Months/ Days/ Hours: 10 Months/ 188 Days/ 7 Hours
Reports To: Supervisor/Coordinator of Special Education
Slary Range: $30.35 hourly
