General Overview

The Benefits Center of Excellence is responsible for strategy, design and compliance of our retirement programs and associated initiatives offered nationally to our 83,000 employees across 17 institutions with multiple benefit programs.

The Benefits Analyst is involved in supporting all functions related to our retirement programs including defined contribution 403(b) and 401(a) retirement savings plans, defined benefit pension plans, retiree medical, non-qualified 457(b) deferred compensation plans and associated initiatives offered to more than 83,000 employees. Under direction of the Senior Manager, Retirement Plans, and supporting the Senior Benefits Consultants, the Benefits Analyst will measure and manage retirement programs while constantly striving to innovate beyond traditional benefit solutions. The Benefits Analyst will work closely with colleagues on the Benefits Center of Excellence team and partner closely with HR Support Center and Benefit Operations colleagues to support plan administration.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides analytical support to the Retirement COE team
  • Researches retirement plan issues and regulations
  • Assists with documenting compliance of retirement programs including plan documents and amendments, summary plan descriptions, required participant notices, reporting and forms
  • Supports annual external audits performed on all retirement plans
  • Supports team in the production and distribution of all required government filings and participant notices
  • Partners with Retirement COE teammates to ensure appropriate vendor management
  • Records and distribute meeting notes as needed, highlighting takeaways, ownership and deadlines as appropriate
  • Collects ad-hoc data and reports as needed to support plan administration
  • Coordinates review and edits of Summary Plan Descriptions annually or as needed
  • Supports data collection for annual actuarial valuation and non-discrimination testing
  • Maintains positive relationships and work collaboratively across the system and with internal colleagues such as, but not limited to, HR Operations, Internal Communications and local HR colleagues
  • Collaborates with vendors, consultants and outside counsel as needed to understand impact of new regulations and market trends
  • Collaborates with Employee and Labor Relations team on collectively bargained union negotiations and plan design changes as needed
  • Assesses and assists with resolution of complex and/or escalated issues
  • Drafts and reviews participant communications
  • Use Mass General Brigham values to govern decisions, actions and behaviors
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially in Excel and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree- Business Administration, Human Resource Management or Organizational Development preferred or equivalent in demonstrated experience is required
  • Three or more years of experience working with employee benefits.
