JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Bilingual (English/Spanish) Case Manager

REPORTS TO: Program Manager

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

Provides a support system to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and stalking. Responsible for assessing the needs of clients, developing Individual Case Plans, screening for immediate health and safety concerns, facilitating the safe and timely entry and departure from our Shelter program, and documenting the provision of services in the case files.

BASIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree in a related field (social science, health science, or other applicable field) or two years of related experience.
  • Bilingual, demonstrating the ability to speak, write, and read in both English and Spanish
  • Ability to adhere to confidentiality requirements
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients at all times
  • Valid Driver’s License and full-time use of car
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and meet all applicable deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Flexible and willing to take on a variety of projects
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment, with clients and staff, where ALL individuals are accepted and welcomed. These communities include bilingual/trilingual language speakers, LGBTQ+, Refugee, Immigrant, Undocumented, BIPOC, etc.
  • Mature ability to handle potentially stressful situations

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Be the main point of contact for all Spanish-speaking-only clients
  • Assess the needs of clients, with special attention to basic life needs such as food, safe and stable housing, and appropriate health care
  • Develop short and long-term goals (or Individual Care Plans) with clients, identifying any obstacles and strategies on how to achieve them
  • Provide information to clients about housing options, community services and/or government agencies and their respective programs, services, or benefits for which they may be eligible
  • Assist clients in making inquiries about and/or applying for adequate housing, applicable programs such as Medicaid, SNAP, etc. and other services or benefits
  • Provide coverage for all office and crisis lines, ensuring callers have immediate access to assistance
  • Utilize knowledge to answer routine questions and provide assistance to clients and general public
  • Provide outreach, professional advocacy and referrals to bilingual and Spanish speaking clients
  • Interview, screen, and assist prospective clients according to established criteria
  • Document/update client files according to established guidelines during each shift
  • Follow up with clients based on established guidelines
  • Attend required meetings and trainings
  • Network with community service providers and domestic violence programs to ensure continuity of services
  • Complete paperwork and reports in an accurate, timely and confidential manner
  • Participate in court advocacy that may include the following: assisting protection order petitioners to file, prepare clients for court appearances and accompany them to court, maintain statistics.
  • Network with legal system and community resources
  • Act as liaison between clients, partner agencies, law enforcement, judicial system and community organizations
  • Assist in periodic data collection of client demographics, services provided, etc.
  • Perform additional duties or tasks as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Approximately 65% of time spent sitting at workstation
  • Approximately 35% of time spent standing, walking, negotiating stairs, bending, kneeling, carrying and lifting
  • Frequent repetitive use of hands when keyboarding

WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT:

  • Approximately 80% of time is spent indoors.
  • Approximately 20% is spent en-route to meetings, appointments, and other outside activities as needed

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

Computer: Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, Adobe Acrobat Pro, general office equipment, multi-line phone system

POSITION DETAILS:

Medical, dental, and vision insurance

Paid time off

40 hours/week, Monday-Friday with rotational on-call, some evenings and weekends

Location: Mountain Home, ID

Starting at $18.00/hour

Job Type: Full-time
