Job Title: Bilingual Spanish Medical Assistant
Location: Encinitas, CA - Family Medicine
Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. (Saturday rotations)
Pay starting at $23.00 per hour! Plus, a $500.00 Sign On Bonus!

Position Summary:
The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for performing routine clinical and administrative tasks. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood and administering medications. Administrative duties may include answering phone calls, registering new patients, scheduling appointments and collecting and posting fees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.Interview patients to obtain medical information and confirm purpose of visit.
2.Copy immunization cards of all new children or, if none available in chart, of established patients.
3.Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms stocked, neat and clean.
4.Sterilize instruments following sterilization guidelines and maintain accurate logs.
5.Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; and taking blood pressure, height, weight and temperature.
6.Record patients' medical history, vital signs and information such as test results in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
7.Assist medical staff in examining and treating patients, handing them instruments and materials or performing such tasks as giving injections and removing sutures.
8.Perform various laboratory procedures to include urine analysis, cultures, immunization, Hgb, lead levels and EKGs.
9.Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
10.Perform respiratory treatments, injections and immunizations according to TrueCare protocols or standing orders.
11.Change dressings on wounds.
12.Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records.
13.Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians' instructions to patients.
14.Discharge patients from visit per patient discharge protocols.
15.Schedule appointments for patients, as needed.
16.Refer calls to medical staff when appropriate for emergency or medical questions.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
- One (1) year of medical office experience in an out-patient clinical setting.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and care coordination.
- Current CPR
- Computer proficiency, particularly with Electronic Health/Medical Record systems and the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook and Word.
