Accurately and efficiently perform store functions to balance daily cash and non-cash as well as store sales. Essential Job Functions:

* Promote trust and respect among associates.

* Model excellent customer service.

* Maintain a clean and orderly department.

* Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the store and respond to customers’ questions and make products suggestions.

* Process various tenders, rain checks, complex loyalty offers and coupons, and complete checkout procedures according to company policy.

* Adhere to cash handling procedures and follow company guidelines to control loss.

* Observe scheduled shift operating hours.

* Use store systems to properly balance all store register tills; research all discrepancies; collect all coupons, store charges, checks and other miscellaneous monetary drafts and send them to their applicable accounting location.

* Prepare and complete all deposits, both cash and checks, in an accurate and timely manner.

* Communicate with store management on a daily basis regarding any and all issues related to proper record keeping or cash handling.

* Follow and support all company and federal cash handling and anti-money laundering compliance guidelines.

* Accurately order, secure and manage all store cash.

* Perform cash and till audits according to company policy.

* Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures; identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.

* Notify management of customer or employee accidents.

* Report all safety risks/issues and illegal activity, including robbery, theft or fraud.

* Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines.

* Ensure that all current customer service, cash control, labor control, expense and supply controls, loss prevention, maintenance, safety and associate/customer engagement rules are being followed.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

* Successful completion of bookkeeper training

* Prior cash handling experience and knowledge of the Point of Sale system

* Ability to handle stressful situations

* Effective oral and written communication skills

* Basic computer skills

* Knowledge of basic math (e.g., counting, addition, and subtraction)

* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

* Must be 18 or older

Desired Previous Job Experience/Education:

* High school diploma or GED

* Previous experience as a checker, customer service manager, or customer service booth clerk  Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing)

Physical Demands:

Cash registers, carts, tills, computers, tender bags, grocery bags, intercom system, pens, scanner, printer, fax machine, EFT machine, cash, coins, six wheelers, office machines and telephone.

Work Surface

Check stands, tile floors and mats

Length of Work Day/Week

Up to 8 hours with breaks at 2-hour intervals. Approximate workweek of 40 hours.
