This position is within a mixed office and field setting working for the Agency’s Capital Division. The incumbent will perform inspections at NYS Parks and Historic Site Facilities in a five county area. The incumbent will review plans, details, and specifications for building code compliance. The incumbent will organize and maintain physical and digital files in accordance with existing procedures, and prepare reports as needed.

The Building Inspector must:

• Have completed NYS Code Enforcement Certification (Courses 9A-9F) and have current NYS Certification.
• Be proficient in computer use including MS Windows, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Be able to read and interpret plans, details, and specifications
• Understand construction materials, tools, equipment, and methods.
• Be able to conduct field inspections, surveys and investigations.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s license with no restrictions as a term and condition of employment.

Operational Needs:

• Previous building construction experience or code enforcement experience is preferred.
• Positive, professional, and accurate customer service is required.
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively in writing and read and comprehend written material.
• Participation and practice of all NYS trainings is required annually.

Qualifications: One year of experience in maintenance, construction, landscaping, business operations, park operations, or in an organized recreation program. BENEFITS:

Although this position is part-time, it would be 80% part-time - 32 hours/week
