POSITION SUMMARY
The KOA Business Analyst is responsible for delivering solutions that bring value to the customer. The main tasks include eliciting and documenting business requirements and functional specifications through interaction with stakeholders as well as analysis of workflows and systems. The Business Analyst will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders and within the development team to deliver requirements for software solutions, manage user acceptance planning and testing, and provide post-production support as needed. To succeed in this role the individual will have a natural analytical way of thinking and be able to explain difficult concepts to non-technical users.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES & RELATIONSHIPS
Non-supervisory Position.
Will work closely with Product Owner, Developers, Software Quality Analyst, the Support team, and various stakeholders.
Remote work is authorized for this position up to and including full time remote work as approved by the supervisor.
  • This position will require a minimal amount of travel. Upon hiring, the successful candidate will be required to travel to the KOA Corporate offices in Billings MT for in-person training and orientation. Additionally, in-person attendance will be required on a yearly cycle to attend departmental meetings and/or staff development meetings. Ample advance noticed will be provided.
  • Attendance at all sprint ceremonies, including daily stand-up meetings, is required utilizing conferencing collaboration tools when working remote.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
  • Evaluate business processes and anticipate requirements.
  • Create visual models to support business and IT understanding of project requirements, scope, and to uncover gaps in the requirements.
  • Elicit requirements from various stakeholders and create documentation of business rules and requirements.
  • Translate scope into detailed requirements through user stories and defined acceptance criteria.
  • Partner with the Project Manager on project and story decomposition. Assist in developing and managing project plans, and monitoring performance.
  • Partner with the Product Owner to communicate the product vision.
  • Work with development team and Quality Analyst to identify testing strategies. Develop and facilitate User Acceptance Testing plans.
  • Participate in backlog refinement, grooming and prioritization.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies.
  • Facilitate meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings.
  • Ensure solutions meet business needs and requirements.
EXPECTED RESULTS
  • Analyze end user functions and responsibilities to understand their software and process needs.
  • Evaluate system capabilities and generate requirements/acceptance criteria for system enhancements.
  • Facilitate User Acceptance Testing to confirm business requirements have been achieved.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS –
  • A Bachelor's degree in business or related field or an MBA or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in business analysis or a related field.
  • ECBA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Must possess exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and proven experience creating visual models.
  • Must have strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Must have a strong understanding of Agile processes and principals.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with JIRA and Atlassian products preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required.
  • Ability to travel by air and automobile.
  • Ability to answer phone calls, hear issues, & give direction while viewing computer screens.
  • Must speak and write English fluently.
  • Requires use of hands for typing, handling paperwork, & other office functions such as copying, sorting, & filing.
  • Requires long periods of sitting and viewing computer screens (85%).
