ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE BUSINESS OFFICE ASSISTANT:
- Responsible for assisting the BOM in overseeing all functions of the business office
- The primary responsibilities are maintaining billing and cash collections, and the accurate reporting of same to corporate personnel.
- The position works directly with other facility departments, thus ensuring accurate and timely results.
- Maintain daily census.
- Enter admissions, discharges, new and resource changes and room charge modifications into the PCC
- Perform or oversee the financial screening process on all new residents and residents changing payor type.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of the resident financial files.
- Track Medicaid approval and re-eligibility process.
- Interact with commercial insurance companies to define billing requirements and assure prompt payment of claims.
- Review aging report and initiate follow up projects as necessary.
- Reconcile petty cash.
- Perform month end close of the PCC system timely and accurately, tying out revenue to dollars and census.
- Maintain updated and accurate rate master file in PCC
- Ensure accuracy of charge master file in PCC
- Prepare, verify and mail resident statements timely.
- Produce collection letters in accordance with policy and procedure, ensuring documentation of all collection efforts.
- Process all resident refunds timely and accurately.
- Resolve P&L issues related to revenue.
- Ensure timely billing of all payor types that will result in payment the following month.
- Ensure integrity of all resident financial data, auditing and adjusting accounts when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with state survey guidelines as related to the business office.
- Assist residents with Representative Payee of Social Security Checks.
- Respond timely to family members/residents with all private billing inquires.
- Monitor email daily.
- May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills Needed
Experience with Engage/Acustaff or other timekeeping/payroll system
Payroll Based Journal experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Word/Excl etc.
Ability to work under time constraints/Time Management
Private Collection experience
Skilled Nursing Facility business office experience
Administrative duties as assigned by Business Office Manager
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- High school or GED
EDUCATION PREFERRED:
- Bachelor's degree
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- One to two years in health care related accounting/billing. Experience with Medicaid and Medicare.
This is a FT position working Monday-Friday
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
