POSITION SUMMARY

This position is for a full-time CAD Technician in our Traverse City and St. Johns office locations. Looking for a highly motivated individual capable of working independently or on large project teams developing AutoCAD deliverables for civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will be using design and drafting standards, reference manuals, and will work as a team member preparing design documents.

Job Requirements:

A TYPICAL DAY ON THE JOB

  • Performs non-routine and complex assignments from verbal instructions and under minimal supervision
  • Uses considerable drafting/ CADD skills to visualize and portray complex design features
  • Provides CADD drafting and design support for Designer and Project Engineer during the planning, design, and construction of typical engineering projects
  • Obtains work assignments of either specific design elements or CADD drafting from Designer or Project Manager with an allocated budget.
  • Reviews all work for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting to Project manager for review
  • Uses standard check lists set up for quality control on each project
  • Coordinates with outside utility companies and municipalities to gather required information necessary for design
  • Helps in the development of CADD drafting standards and procedures
  • Performs quantity take offs for cost estimate development
  • Performs work as assigned from sketches, verbal instructions, and notes

Physical presence is an essential function of this job.

EXPEREINCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED required
  • Technical school training with courses in computer-aided drafting or equivalent experience preferred
  • Two-year degree preferred, but not required
