Cardiovascular Account Specialist – U.S. Sales (Cherry Hill, NJ)

Cytokinetics is a late-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing and commercializing first-in-class muscle activators and next-in-class muscle inhibitors as potential treatments for debilitating diseases in which muscle performance is compromised and/or declining. As a leader in muscle biology and the mechanics of muscle performance, we are developing small molecule drug candidates specifically engineered to impact muscle function and contractility.

The Cardiovascular Account Specialist reports to the Area Business Manager with responsibilities for a given geography and customers located in Hospitals, Heart Failure Clinics and Cardiology Community Practices in preparing for the launch of Cytokinetic's first commercial product.

This inaugural sales position will work cross-functionally with other customer facing and internal teams to drive brand adoption and growth within assigned accounts and drive the success of our launch. This role requires you to have the ability to identify/develop business relationships with strategic hospital accounts, targeted clinics and community cardiologists. This includes influencers and prescribers to establish yourself as a heart failure expert and resource within these care settings while executing using the Cytokinetics engagement model. You will be engaging all stakeholders in these settings including HCPs (Health Care Provider), hospital staff, pharmacists, hospital administrators, nurses, hospitalists, office staff, etc. through balanced product and disease state presentations with approved clinical information.

Territory cities will include: Mt. Laurel, Cherry Hill, Absecon, Camden

Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate and deliver brand value messages and resources to drive product adoption to meet or exceed territory business objectives.
  • Identify and develop business relationships with assigned customers (Hospitals, Heart Failure Clinics and Community Cardiology Practices) and establish yourself as a heart failure expert and resource.
  • Deliver customer engagement meetings with effective and balanced messaging through live engagement or using virtual platforms.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other field-based teams such as Market Access, Thought Leader Liaisons, field-based Medical Scientists when appropriate and other related stakeholders.
  • Develop detailed account plans working cross functionally with Market Access, Thought Leader Liaisons, and related stakeholders to ensure collaboration, coordination, and alignment.
  • Comfortably navigate ambiguous situations and work towards productive solutions.
  • Ensure all activities are consistent with all applicable laws and regulations, consistent with Cytokinetics culture of ethics and integrity.
  • Overnight travel of 25% may be required depending on territory needs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of life sciences or biopharmaceutical industry experience
  • 3+ years of specialty sales experience
  • 3+ years of account management experience calling on hospitals and accounts such as Heart Failure Clinics is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of hospital committee structures, P&T process, discharge protocols and demonstrated ability to communicate to internal stakeholders with impact
  • Experience working in cardiovascular markets is strongly preferred
  • Experience with product launches preferred
  • Strong understanding of payer landscapes within assigned geography for national, regional and local patient insurance coverage including being adept at driving formulary access in hospitals. A track-record of navigating these payer dynamics to gain trial and adoption of new products
  • Excellent communication/coordination/interpersonal skills both in-person and virtually with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales objectives as demonstrated by prior results
  • Passion for understanding and championing the needs of customers and accounts, resulting in strong relationships built on credibility and trust
  • Preferred knowledge of local Key Opinion Leaders and key players within the designated geographic assignment.
  • Strong understanding and record of accomplishment of working compliantly with assigned customers to facilitate HUB support and related payer support tools to enable patient access goals
  • Demonstrate effective collaboration with key company stakeholders and other field colleagues
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to listen actively, express compelling ideas fluently and succinctly, and present effectively
  • Demonstration of a patient centric mindset including the ability to connect territory activities to how they impact patient care
  • Demonstration of strong scientific and clinical acumen
  • Strong business acumen and ability to analyze business for trends and opportunities to continually drive results, including use of tools such as Tableau and Veeva
  • Competency with additional relevant tools and technology required for reporting, information gathering and call execution
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Aligned to Cytokinetics Corporate Policies - An essential requirement of the position is to meet credentialing requirements for access to academic institutions, medical facilities, and organizations that are in the assigned region. These credentialing requirements may include, but are not limited to, background checks, drug screens, and proof of immunization and/or vaccinations. Failure to meet all requirements may prevent an employee from performing all job responsibilities
