The goal of the DRC is to reduce recidivism and increase public safety through effective community reintegration. The programs and services provided will assist in reintroducing parolees back into their respective communities, family systems, and other positive support structures. The programs and services offered at the DRC shall include, but are not limited to: education and literacy support; pre-employment and job readiness; substance use disorder counseling; and Cognitive Behavioral Treatment (CBT) interventions to include criminal thinking, anger management, family relationships, and transitional housing.

JOB SUMMARY

The Case Worker reports to the Program Director and will supervise clients in their activities and in their progress toward their goals while also providing direct services to clients including individual case management and groups. This position will split their time between two programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain caseload of clients.
  • Make written case notes regarding client behavior, noting significant intervention and changes in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Assure that the clients understand and follow program rules and procedures.
  • Develop case management plans, exit plans, and provide aftercare information for clients.
  • Provide individual and group counseling geared toward the client’s specified goals and objectives.
  • Plan, organize, and implement special groups and seminars for residents.
  • Assist the clients in appropriate utilization of referral services.
  • Document progress and all services in the parolees file (including employment effort/status, case conference results).
  • Serve as a resource person with regard to education, training, and employment opportunities available in the community for clients.
  • Ensure agent of record in informed of all clients’ progress.
  • Thinks and acts quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
  • Comply with all Turning Point Safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to: workplace safety, reporting work related injuries, Infection Control and preventing potential safety risks for staff, clients and others.
  • Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee at Turning Point. Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working. Employees also are expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule. Late arrival, early departure or other absences from scheduled hours are disruptive and must be avoided.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • The Case Worker shall possess an Associates of Arts or Associates of Sciences degree from a granting institution accredited by the WASC or equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years of experience working with the criminal justice population; or shall possess a high school diploma, or its equivalent, and a minimum of four (4) years of experience working in a similar position with the criminal justice population.
  • Ability to work effectively with program clients.
  • Current certified training in emergency first aid procedures and CPR preferred.
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Office 365, Teams, Zoom and other communication/meeting platforms.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws. Agency insurer authorization is required.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, general physical, and TB test.
  • Must maintain good relationships with current, future and past employees, co-workers, vendors, third party administrators, and others with whom the Agency is transacting business, and relate to them in a professional manner.
