The Cashier operates the cash register and electronic scanner to itemize and total purchases and receive payment while upholding the department’s stated policies and expectations regarding customer service and sanitation.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Accurately and efficiently operate cash register equipped with electronic scanning equipment to process resident, guest and staff sales; accurately maintain all cash and receipts at the register
  • Greet customers in a courteous manner and provide outstanding customer service
  • Sanitize equipment and work area and maintain sanitation standards at all times
  • Follow and complete established side-work procedures to ensure complete preparation of meal service
  • Stock and replenish essential items in dining areas for preparation of each meal
  • Effectively communicate customer needs to supervisor for prompt delivery of service
  • Provide supervisors with customer feed-back to ensure appropriate follow-up and customer satisfaction
  • Additional duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds without assistance, 26+ pounds with manual or mechanical assistance
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Ability to read and understand written and verbal communication
  • Understand state and sanitation policies and procedures

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • Knowledge of long-term care environment
  • Desire to please others
  • Dining or restaurant experience
  • Customer service experience

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Six months of restaurant or wait staff experience
  • Customer service and/or hospitality service training
