Responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating school-based health programs with direction provided by the School Health Coordinator. Reports to the School Health Coordinator.

Responsibilities

Safety

  • Manages processes effectively in regard to employee/patient safety.

Record Keeping

  • Maintains all required records, reports, statistics, logs, files and other documents as required.

Process Improvement

  • Promotes a culture of process improvement by participating in unit/department-based programs that supports the system’s process improvement goals.
  • Actively participates on system-wide or hospital-based teams as needed.

Role Specific Responsibilities

  • Assists CSH coordinator in establishing sites within designated program area to conduct coordinated school health programming and the CATCH on to Health!
  • Facilitate informational meetings and manage communication regarding Coordinated School Health programming with school administrators, teachers and staff to recruit participation.
  • Coordinate and support the implementation of approved SEL curricula and programming.
  • Promote and implement the SOS Signs of Suicide prevention program that educates students about the relationship between suicide and depression.
  • Increase the number of Mental Health First Aid training sessions available and increase the number of trainings completed.
  • Assess participating school district’s current health efforts using the School Health Index (SHI) tool.
  • Assist the CSH coordinator with trainings for area educators during school improvement days, scheduled workshops and regional workshops.
  • Assist in the development and distribution of family newsletters describing CATCH program information and events.
  • Collaborate with partnering community agencies to implement grant funded programs (CATCH), specific events (Family Fun Nights, Health Fairs) and classroom lesson presentations.
  • Conduct program evaluation (written surveys, SOFIT evaluation) and provide information to CSH Coordinator for quarterly reports.
  • Attend/Participate in CATCH program monthly steering committee meetings.
  • Travel throughout the lower 16 counties of Illinois is required in order to implement training and educational outreach.
  • Assist the CSH coordinator with the development of program materials, forms, and procedures when necessary

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Education or related field

Licenses and Certification

  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License.

Experience and Skills

  • Technical Experience: 1 year
  • COVID vaccinations
