The Medical Assistant assists with clinical and preventive counseling care to patients through an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach that takes into consideration all aspects of health, with the specific scope of treating overweight and obesity as a disease. This is done under the specific direction and protocols of the supervising Physician.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

• Conducts routine patient care to assess CoreLife patients’ progress and the appropriateness of care. Participates in the clinical management of CoreLife patients and demonstrates advanced clinical decision-making skills

• Assists in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and standards which affect the care of the CoreLife patient

• Develops and maintains a collaborative working relationship with the physician, Nurse Practitioner, Dietitian and the Personal Trainers involved in the care of the CoreLife patient

• Identifies and implements practices that are evidence-based to enhance the quality and cost outcomes of the CoreLife patient population

• Establishes and coordinates CoreLife patient care appointments.

• Performs other related duties as assigned

• Work within a multidisciplinary clinical team

Specific Responsibilities:

• Accurately notates and updates patient records accounting to the standards of the American Medical Association

• Keep comprehensive records of history of patients, examinations, care plans, procedures, medications, treatments, and communications

• Taking medical histories of Patients

• Providing follow-up with Patients between Patients’ visits with CoreLife’s medical team

• Monitoring and taking Patients’ vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, etc.).

• Overseeing provision of proper medication to Patients, as directed by Physician.

• Drawing blood from Patients for laboratory testing

• Submitting samples for laboratory testing and coordinating laboratory results

• Communicating with Patients, Physician and CoreLife staff in order to coordinate all phases and aspects of Patient care by CoreLife, as well as ensuring compliance with all laws, rules and regulations applicable to Patient care

Education/Experience:

• Prefer at least 2 years of experience

• Interest in and/or experience in community health settings

• Experience working in a diverse environment

• Ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals required

• Excellent communication and team skills required
