PURPOSE

  • Provide a continuum of vocational services to participants to ensure successful placement outcomes across a variety of industries and skill sets.
  • Support BDI’s mission and partners with others to accomplish the mission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide comprehensive vocational rehabilitation services including assessments, service plans development, job readiness counseling, Job development, job placement, as well as on-going support
  • Evaluate participants’ abilities, interests, experience, skills, health, and education.
  • Working alongside other to facilitate access to needed services, resources and support.
  • Considering individual strengths and limitations when creating rehabilitation plans and strategies.
  • Developing treatment plans in consultation families and state counselors.
  • Facilitating sessions with family members to better support the participant.
  • Locate resources or community support for participants.
  • Identify career training opportunities and educating employers about the abilities and needs of participants.
  • Monitor participants’ progress and adjusting service plans as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) required
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health, Rehabilitation, or a closely related field.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, mental health, and/or other disability populations.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling preferred

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

  • None required for this position.

  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and licensure standards such GVRA, DBHDD, CARF,etc.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Personal computer, copy machine, facsimile machine, telephone/voicemail system, and other general office equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to lift a maximum of 35 pounds with occasional lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Must possess the physical capabilities to perform the following: standing, walking, bending and sitting for extended periods.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Three office locations: Atlanta (2 days per week), Jonesboro (2 days per week), and Decatur (1 day per week)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary.

TRAVEL
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
