Responsibilities:
NASA Federal Credit Union is looking for a Chargeback Analyst to process credit, debit, and ATM chargeback cases in a fast-paced production-based environment, while balancing priorities to move freely between various channels as the workload dictates. This position will ensure time sensitive processing while meeting both banking and credit card associations regulatory guidelines. It will handle aspects of the chargeback process from data collection and processing, issuing provisional credits, determining correct reasoning, and final adjudication. This position will also be responsible for ensuring all processes are completed within time frames, while effectively and accurately communicating with members to assist with telephone inquiries, account information, transactions, and problem resolution.

Level I:
  • Remains cognizant of and adheres to Credit Union policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the resources, services, policies and procedures of the Credit Union
  • Assists cardholders with Dispute/Fraud Resolution complying with Federal Reserve Bank rules and regulations, Reg. E, Reg. Z and Card Act
  • Analyzes and understands Visa and MasterCard rules and regulations related to debit and credit card transaction disputes
  • Interprets changes to dispute resolution rules as mandated by card associations
  • Handles incoming chargebacks, reviews documentation, performs research, enters re-presentments, and handles pre-arbitration cases on behalf of clients for multiple card networks
  • Investigates and assesses chargeback claims from members and monitors claims from start to finish in order to ensure proper chargeback processing
  • Processes ATM/POS (PIN) network adjustments, errors and resolutions as needed
  • Receives and processes ATM Share Deposit Adjustments and Returns
  • Retrieves and contacts member (if applicable) for blocked VISA Cards
  • Provides accurate and concise written and verbal responses in all internal and external customer communication
  • Processes and balances the daily VISA -ATM Settlement reports
  • Performs financial adjustments to cardholders and merchants as necessary to resolve exception activity
  • Monitors mailboxes and maintenance queues as assigned
  • Completes assigned projects and tasks within provided deadline


Level II
– Performs all the duties of the Level I and the following:
  • Creates and maintains internal tracking reports as they relate to dispute and chargeback performance
  • Interfaces with the Finance Department for the reconciliation General Ledger subsidiaries
  • Interfaces with the Fraud Prevention and Security Department for fraud claims and compromise alerts
  • Researches and processes CUNA Mutual claims
  • Maintains and organizes all ATM and VISA procedures, forms, and compliance guidelines
  • Informs management and merchants of potential issues
  • Prepares reports on credit and chargeback claim findings. Analyzes trends in chargeback claims
  • May monitor work accuracy and timeliness of other Chargeback Analysts
  • May assist with training of Charge Back Analysts
Qualifications:
Level I
  • Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred
  • One to two years of banking experience specializing in researching and processing case or application data

Level II
– Includes all requirements from Level I
  • Two to three years of experience processing card
