JOB SUMMARY

Nabors is seeking high performing Chemist, focused on making a difference in the world in an Engineering Carbon Capture and Hydrogen solutions, using math, science and technology to help solve global environmental factors. The perfect candidate wants to be part of the carbon capture solution in a chemical engineer role, with a concentration around environmental governance in the oil and gas industry.

Accountable for providing production chemicals and flow assurance technical guidance including selection and optimization of production chemicals, monitoring of performance, providing directions on tackling key flow assurance and chemical production challenges. This role will be a part of a Research and Development program assisting other engineers in Energy Transition.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor and report performance of production chemicals and flow assurance threats.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a chemical management strategy to monitor chemical usage, performance, and chemical vendor performance.
  • Provide guidance and advice on Carbon Capture and Hydrogen Solutions.
  • Provide relevant input for the preparation of budget and plans.
  • Provide technical support to Asset Integrity Team, Operations, Maintenance, PED, and Drilling Teams.
  • Monitor Chemical vendor expenditure against relevant budget and drive optimization. Provide innovative support with respect to the development and implementation of new technology where this can contribute to solving flow assurance challenges, increasing efficiencies and/or more reliable Integrity related information.
  • Lead monthly chemicals and flow assurance reviews and contribute to the Asset Review and Improve activities.
  • Execute routine and experimental laboratory activities supporting one or more research projects through direction from senior research personnel
  • Maintain and operate multi-scale reaction and characterization equipment, including larger equipment
  • Conduct routine and experimental analysis for product characterization and to support product applications
  • Provide synthetic, supply chain, and production support through lab reactions and experimentation
  • Engage in research to develop new methods of processing or production
  • Contribute to the development of differentiated technology, products, processes, or systems
  • Interpret experimental results and properly document findings
  • Communicate findings and observations through written and verbal communication and presentations
  • Maintain accurate lab notebook records and file reports for experimental work

Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology or Biochemistry or a related physical science field
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Some mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Synthetic experience in a lab environment
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to flourish as part of a multi-disciplinary team of researchers
  • The successful candidate will be innovative, self-starting and team orientated

  • The primary location for this position is an office environment.
  • Able to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Rig yard trips may be expected from time to time.
