Independent Counselling Enterprises (ICE) is a recognized leader in service delivery for adults with developmental disabilities in Alberta, supporting individuals in all aspects of daily living both residentially and within the community, enabling them to meet their goals and have improved quality of life. ICE is pleased to present an exciting opportunity for the position of Chief Operating Officer . In this role, you will be responsible for provincial operations and supervision of senior management.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Overseeing and providing leadership in agency operations
  • Facilitation of high-level communication with stakeholders
  • Agency wide risk identification, mitigation, and evaluation
  • Performance audits and quality monitoring
  • Supervision of management employees
  • Managing service issues and communicating results to stakeholders
  • Conducting and/or participating in all aspects of client intake processes
  • Completing and/or directing critical incident investigations
  • Hiring and termination of employees
  • Budget submission
  • Crisis management and afterhours emergency response
Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Degree in Human Services or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior management/supervisory position, preferably in human service or related field
  • Experience working with marginalized groups
  • Advanced knowledge of disability services industry
  • Experience in business management
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and complete large-scale planning
  • Demonstrated knowledge of risk management and health and safety systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution/mediation skills
  • Ability to lead and inspire a diverse team
  • Strong computer skills
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector required
Assets
  • Experience in government relations
  • Experience in similar sized company
  • Experience in critical incident investigations
  • Knowledge of disability services workforce
  • Thorough understanding of or education in working with Indigenous communities
