About Helix

The Helix School (THS) is a non-public school (NPS) located in Mill Valley, CA, serving children with neurodevelopmental challenges and mild to moderate autism spectrum disorder. The mission of The Helix School is to prepare children with autism for a fulfilling future through dynamic, interdisciplinary, relationship-based education. Our program is unique in that our specialists (OT, SLP, and MFT) work in collaboration with special education teachers on a regular basis to facilitate a “whole child” teaching approach and a truly integrated and individualized curriculum for each student. Each child at Helix is celebrated for their unique strengths and their “enthusiasms” are worked into their curriculum to make learning more meaningful for them.

Position Description

THS is seeking a collaborative Occupational Therapist who is inspired by working with an interdisciplinary team, looking at the whole child and who values relationship-based approaches to working with children. Main duties of this position include one-on-one OT sessions, dyad or group occupational therapy with students, regular consultation with staff, push into the classrooms for sensory and motor support, OT assessment, formulation of OT goals, data collection, and written reports.

This is a part-time employee position, 30 hours/week with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position.

Education and Experience

Registered and Licensed Occupational Therapist
Specific experience and background in Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Experience or familiar with developmental curriculums such as Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT), SCERTS, DIR/Floortime, TEACCH, etc.

Ideal training in Occupational Therapy approaches would include some combination of all of the following: sensory integration therapy, Bal-a-Vis-X, Keyboarding Without Tears, Handwriting Without Tears Program, Rhythmic Movement Therapy, MNRI, and S'cool Moves.
