    Child Nutrition Training Coordinator
    Full Time 260 days/8 hrs/day

    Provide on-site operations training, coaching, leadership, guidance, and management opportunities for the Child Nutrition Site Supervisors and staff in the district’s food service program.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Oversee, evaluate, direct, and train Child Nutrition Program Site Supervisors as it relates to operational functions including but not limited to meal preparation, food production, distribution, inventory control, leadership, management, and staff training opportunities.
    • Participate in the interview and selection of new employees; makes recommendations concerning staffing, discipline, and staff ability to meet and adhere to district policies and procedures.
    • Assist in Site Supervisor trainings and the successful implementation of policies and procedures on a site level.
    • Assist in the planning and training process of new Site Supervisors and staff.
    • Provide onsite education, training, and evaluation of current Site Supervisors as needed.
    • Monitor, observe, interview, and work with Site Supervisors and staff to assess abilities and training opportunities.
    • Assist in the evaluation of staff and kitchens to assess the efficacy of current processes and procedures, and determine any training opportunities the department or Site Supervisors may need to meet current expectations.
    • Provide informational expertise in response to concerns from parents, site administrators, and district staff regarding the interpretation of laws, rules, and regulations governing food service operations.
    • Oversee and evaluate the planning, organization, and coordination of timely preparation of food for assigned food service programs to include catering.
    • Provide mentoring and training of Site Supervisors and food service staff in relation to effective management, training, execution, and production opportunities.
    • Review, assess, and maintain operational data including meal participation, staff schedules, and financial records when evaluating serving locations.
    • Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods, staff training opportunities, kitchen processes, and procedures.
    • Evaluate the need for Site Supervisor and staff continued education and leadership training.
    • Work with site administrators and the Child Nutrition Director to determine training needs and opportunities of district kitchens.
    • Encourage and represent a positive relationship between Anoka Hennepin and the community by demonstrating professionalism, courtesy, and respect when interacting with students, staff, parents, and customers.
    • Oversee the operations of summer food sites including but not limited to; summer site reviews, following menus, onsite staff training, food transportation and satellite meal service.
    • Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as directed.

    Minimum Qualifications: Requires High School Diploma or equivalent. Requires reliable transportation. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume, application of basic algebra and geometry concepts, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read, understand, and interpret recipes. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Strong written, oral, communication and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands, including abilty to use initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines. Ability to speak effectively before groups of staff, departments, and internal/external customers. Demonstrated ability to use various learning methods to ensure thorough training and development of staff. Demostrated ability in marketing culinary presentations. Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and direct food production, distribution, and serving in assigned schools. Strong technology/computer skills. Strong customer services skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. ?Ability to create and write reports, correspondence, and other communication materials. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, clients and families. Ability to read and interpret documents such as state and federal health/safety codes, operating and production procedures, and state and federal USDA meal program regulations. Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply applicable Federal, state and local rules and regulations, and Anoka Hennepin policies. Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day. Ability to perform position responsibilities, including physical factors, work devices, and materials handling. Must be physically working in the building/on site.

    Preferred Qualifications: Certified Food Service Manager Certificate preferred. Food service experience in an educational setting preferred. Valid Driver’s License preferred. Associates degree in Business, Nutrition, or Hotel and Restaurant Management preferred OR a certificate of completion from a recognized Culinary Institution; and three years of experience in health/safety, employee relations, supervision and/or training functions for a food service organization, preferably in education preferred.

    Salary: $67,815. Insurance benefits eligible.
