General Information:

  • Client Services Technicians (CSTs) supervise court-ordered visitations between children in the department's care and the parents/guardians to ensure safe conditions are maintained.
  • CSTs transport children to and from visits and appointments, as well as a myriad of other important coordination activities.
  • The Client Services Technician must be able to lift and carry items weighing approximately 50 pounds, and to perform physical work such as lifting and carrying children, car seats, and boxes.

Our generous benefits package increases the total compensation of a full-time (benefits eligible) Client Services Technician making $16.00/hour to an estimated $25.45/hour.
This announcement may be used to fill full-time, part-time, and temporary positions. Employees are eligible for benefits if they are working 20 or more hours per week and the term of employment is to exceed five continuous months.

This is an ongoing announcement which means at the time applicants apply, we may or may not have an opening. When a position becomes available, a hiring/referred list will be created from the qualified applicants on the eligibility list. A hiring supervisor will then directly contact those applicants they wish to interview.

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is a drug-free workplace. In addition, successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal history background investigation. Employment is dependent upon satisfactory results of the investigation.

Example of Duties

  • Provide transportation and support services to child welfare clients in a variety of settings
  • Act as a role model and monitor family and child visits and report observations
  • Monitor client follow-through and achievement of goals and agreements, including court agreements
  • Mentor and coach parents on providing age appropriate, interactions, redirection, supervision and write progress notes
  • Guide clients in completing documents necessary to implement services
  • Explain applicable laws, policies, and procedures to clients
  • Teach skills such as money/budgeting, parenting, personal hygiene, and social skills
  • Instruct clients in homemaking, daily living, and job attainment skills
  • Testify in court regarding parents' interactions and abilities in parenting their children
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with teams and service providers
  • Develop documents in Word using a computer; enters information in child welfare database

Minimum Qualifications

You must possess all the minimum qualifications listed below to pass the exam for this position.   • Good knowledge of home sanitation and safety
  • Experience working with clients who may be behaviorally, socially, physically and/or mentally challenged
  • Experience observing and recording clients' behaviors, treatment responses, and progress
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic
  • Experience operating household appliances and performing homemaking skills
  • A valid driver's license

****Do you have a bachelor's degree in social work, behavioral science, education, or healthcare from a nationally accredited university or college. Your bachelor's degree must have included at least twenty-one (21) semester credit hours (or quarter hour equivalent) in human service fields such as psychology, social work, special education, counseling, and psychosocial rehabilitation.
