POSITION TITLE: CLINIC RECEPTIONIST I

STATUS: Permanent / Full-Time (1.0 FTE)

SALARY: $3,160 per month at 1.0 FTE | SR11 | BU03

LOCATION: These positions are regionally located in The Kaua’i Region Clinics, which consist of: The Clinic at Waimea, The Clinic at Port Allen, The Clinic at Kalāheo, The Specialty Clinic at Kalāheo, The Clinic/Urgent Care at Po’ipū, and The Clinic at Kapa’a. Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH), Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), and The Kaua’i Region Clinics are part of the Kaua’i Region, Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai’i, operating statewide.

JOB FUNCTIONS: The Clinic Receptionist I welcomes patients to the clinic or outpatient services unit; interviews patients or accompanying parties to obtain required data; inputs information into the computer system; schedules appointments, diagnostic studies, outpatient procedures, and referrals; performs a variety of financial record keeping and clerical services; prepares, collects, files, and maintains patient medical records; types and maintains related records; and performs other duties as required. These positions report to the Clerical Supervisor, position no. 57323, or its designee.

Candidates must be available to work shifts, including on weekends and holidays. In addition, these positions are required to travel to and from any facility within the region as needed based on clinic operations.

    • This position will be required to work 4-10 hour shifts to equal 40 hours in a week at both The Clinic at Po’ipū and The Urgent Care Clinic.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience are credited based on a 40-hour workweek.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Certification: None required.

Licensure: Current, valid type 3 driver’s license preferred.

General Experience: Two (2) years of professional work experience in responsible typing, stenographic, substantive clerical work, or any combination of these experiences in which duties demonstrated knowledge of English grammar, spelling, arithmetic, common office appliances and equipment; and the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, carry out procedures in clerical work systems, speak and write simply and directly, observe differences in copy and proofread words and numbers quickly and accurately, and operate various kinds of office equipment; and ability to deal effectively with others in eliciting information and providing service.

Substitution: An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for all of the General Experience required.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

Knowledge of: Office practices and procedures; grammar, spelling, punctuation, and word usage; use of standard office machines; techniques of interviewing others to obtain pertinent information.

Ability to: Make arithmetic computations; compare names and numbers rapidly and accurately; utilize pagers and overhead paging system, teleprocessing terminal, file materials numerically and alphabetically; follow oral and written instructions; deal tactfully and effectively with the public; work harmoniously with others; understand, explain and apply policies, procedures, rules, and regulations pertinent to patients receiving clinic medical care; keep matters confidential; interview others to obtain pertinent information.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Applicants must be physically able to perform, efficiently and effectively, the essential duties of the position which typically require the ability to read without strain printed material the size of typewritten characters, glasses permitted, and the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, or the ability to compensate satisfactorily.

COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIREMENT

COVID-19 vaccination is a condition of employment for Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation. After receiving a conditional offer of employment, all prospective new HHSC employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. New employees are required to provide confirmation of their full vaccination status by presenting their CDC vaccination card or VAMS Certificate prior to their start date.
