OVERVIEW

• The Microbiology Lab is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, to supervise the Microbiology/Serology department. In this key role, you will lead the microbiology team through with a variety of technical procedures within the Bacteriology and Mycology sections. You will also lead the whole lab team in the Serology department in the general lab.
• Perform identification and susceptibility testing on urine cultures, blood cultures, and cultures from variety of sites.
• Perform and support quality controls, safety, preventative maintenance, policies, and technical procedures in microbiology and serology departments

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Science or a related program such as microbiology preferred.

• Degree 4-6 years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist preferred

• 1+ year in a supervisory capacity preferred

• Seeking candidates with multiple levels of experience for other positions

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
You have and maintain the following certifications:

• Current state of California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license

• ASCP or NCCL license preferred

• CPR preferred

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

• You’re able to break down technical information in a way that everyone can clearly understand.
• Prior hospital clinical laboratory experience
• Must have a minimum of four to six years hospital laboratory experience in bacteriology and mycology.
• Strong educational background and advanced training in Microbiology
• Demonstrated working knowledge of current instrumentation: Vitek 2, BacT/Alert, Myla, BD Max, and BioFire, and skilled in using a computer.
• You’re able to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in the English language.
