Purpose of Job

This part time position is responsible for performing a variety of patient care activities to assist providers and nursing personnel. Facilitates patient/physician/provider communication and coordination of care.

Job Functions

• Escorts patients to examination room and obtains vitals and documents in EMR
• Administers prescribed medications/vaccine’s and treatments in accordance with clinic policies and scope of certification/licensure
• Prepares equipment and assists providers during examination, testing and treatment of patients
• Performs room turn over in patient rooms between cases and at the end of day
• Assists in maintaining stocked supplies and sterilizes instruments/exam rooms
• Assists in arranging referrals/prior authorizations as necessary
• Assists with patient education
• Performs other duties as assigned

Employment Requirements

Minimum Education/Work Experience/License Certifications

• Graduation from Medical Assisting program or School of Practical Nursing
• Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
• Current LPN Licensure or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (LPN's/MA's will have 1 year to become certified in order to maintain employment)
• Current CPR certification

• Ability to multi-task.
• Ability to serve patients in a friendly and efficient manner.
• Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work autonomously and as a team.
• Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations.
• Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above.
