Who We’re Looking For

We have an immediate opportunity for a Coating Technician Lead. The Coating Technician Lead will work with high tech, high-precision machines to create precision optics. Coating Tech Lead will also be supporting the team with trainings, implementing safety standards and reviewing performance.

Job Functions/Requirements:

Primary job functions are listed below but may change without notice.

  • Complete responsibility for one coating chamber including scheduling of runs and employees to complete runs on chamber.
  • Perform cleaning of small parts using chemicals; Inspect parts visually under stereomicroscope and determine which ones are acceptable for coating process.
  • Operate PVD coating machines following proper procedures and maintain up-to-date tracking of documentation.
  • Determine proper coating required for specific parts from technical information provided.
  • Follow established procedures for proper application of coatings.
  • Continuously monitor the coating process and equipment.
  • Regularly inspect equipment used and perform routine maintenance and report serious issues to supervisor. Routine maintenance includes replacing heater coils, changing sputtering targets, and searching for vacuum leaks.
  • Documentation of production coating runs according to ISO specifications.
  • Train employees on DLC and PVD coating, assessing trainees’ performance, and providing feedback to supervision about trainees abilities.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, & Skills You Need:

  • B.A or B.S from (4) year college or University; or related experience.
  • Must regularly lift and /or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Occasional standing, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, or crouching required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Training and development with team members.
  • Identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Delegate work assignments of subordinates after assessing subordinates strengthens and weaknesses to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Enforce safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Good electrical and mechanical knowledge.
  • Ability to work with microscope and small parts.
  • Able to utilize the following computer applications: VISUAL ERP, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and the internet.
  • Ability to handle chemicals carefully.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills in addition to organizational skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluently in English.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $29.00 per hour
