Saint John’s School is a co-educational non-sectarian day school that has 320 students enrolled in grades 9-12. The College Counselor will provide leadership in the college admissions process and guide students and their parents through the development of post-secondary plans by: counseling students in the college application and selection process; focusing on identifying student goals and expectations; serving as liaison between the School and college admission officers; coordinating on-site visits by colleges; coordinating the necessary activities required by the college admissions process; delivering confidential information and/or documents requested by colleges as part of the application process; and contributing to the development of productive well-rounded students.

Essential Responsibilities:

· Support a caseload of approximately 40 seniors through the application process.

· Educate and advise students and families in grades 9-12, individually and in groups, on higher education options and admissions processes.

· Build relationships with college admission staff and organize visits from colleges representatives

· Represent the school at state and national conferences and workshops

· Implement and keep up-to-date college counseling technology, including platforms like SCOIR, Slate, and the Common Application

· Work closely with the school’s learning specialist and the school psychologist

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Master’s degree preferred)

· Previous college counseling and/or college admissions experience

· Exceptional written and communication skills in English (Spanish a bonus)

· Strong managerial and organizational skills and comfort with technology

· Eagerness to grow professionally and remain current in the field
