The Raritan Bay Area YMCA is currently accepting applications for a Director of Communications/Marketing.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic urban, growing organization, just 5 miles west of New York City in the waterfront city of Perth Amboy, NJ. The Raritan Bay Area YMCA has served the ever-evolving needs of our community since 1912. We enthusiastically serve over 5,000 members in the Raritan Bay area in our community building initiatives through Healthy Living, Youth Development, and Social Responsibility.


Under the guidance of the Senior Vice President, the Director of Communications/Marketing helps the Y use social media, electronic communication, events and other activities to encourage member, staff, board, community and all stakeholder to understand the Y’s cause, engage, create value, build brand and drive revenue.


The Director of Communication/Marketing will be responsible for the development and implementation of an integrated communications strategy that will engage stakeholders, incorporate organizational activities and promote the Y’s mission, cause and brand. This candidate will also provide support in communication as needed in financial development to advance the Y’s mission through fundraising.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Develops, produces and distributes program information necessary to promote all programs, in accordance with marketing plans.
  • Creates and prints and/or duplicates marketing and promotional materials for all mediums (both written and digital signage in building, banners, front of building signage, social media, website) necessary for communicating the message of the Y to both the internal and external community, including: Y Program Guide four times annually), Y events/happening calendar, member engagement communications/surveys, program marketing material, informational signage, annual campaign and related event brochures, sponsorship booklets, post cards, and other informational, promotional and marketing pieces.
  • Creates social media posts, email blasts and other communication pieces. Provides oversight of the Y’s FaceBook page, Twitter and Constant Contact accounts and Website. This includes a monthly review and update of all website pages.
  • Assures that all building signage: both digital and non-digital signage is always relevant, sharp and up to date. This includes a monthly review of all signage and may include creating and posting updated signage.
  • Establishes contacts with media representatives and writes and submits press releases when appropriate. Maintains updated files of YMCA’s media relations (both press and electronic).
  • Attends events as requested and is able to take photographs and strategically and timely post to appropriate places. Events may take place during the evenings and/or weekends.
  • Stays aware and engaged with the organization’s communication needs in order to support all staff and leadership in communication and marketing needs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in public relations, communications, marketing, development and/or recreation or related field and/or 2-3 years of related experience.
  • Building skills with technical knowledge to assist in the development of marketing and promotional resources for the organization. Self-directed, innovative and creative person with strong writing and verbal communication skills along with conceptual planning are required.
  • Bilingual- English/Spanish both oral and written.
