Computer Repair Technician ($36,483+) Job at Dorchester County Public Schools
Dorchester County Public Schools is currently accepting applications for the position of Computer Repair Technician. Working with other technicians, this position is responsible for installation, maintenance, and support for technology and assistive technology. Being well versed in computer applications and repair, as well as the ability to provide those services while
displaying great customer service, is essential.
DUTIES:
- Install and optimize computers, related equipment, operating systems, and application software.
- Assess, install, and complete wiring for network data and voice.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software on computers and related equipment to determine corrective action; repair if practical or refer to vendor for repair.
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance cycle as appropriate and perform scheduled preventive maintenance.
- Assist the Network Administrator in the troubleshooting and upgrading of network systems.
- Maintain accurate records of device inventory including repair and maintenance of computers and related equipment.
- Determine and order parts and supplies to maintain an adequate on-hand maintenance inventory.
- Function as a member of pertinent district committees and serve as technical advisor in the selection of the proper equipment and configurations to support specified educational software.
- Provide a monthly summary of accomplishments, concerns, and information to be included in program or performance reviews.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred, technical degree or certification preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory preferred.
- Minimum two years’ work experience in the repair of Microsoft Windows based computers.
- Minimum of one year work experience in the installation and use of networking hardware software troubleshooting skills and problem resolution
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and have own transportation to travel to district sites
- Be able to communicate verbally and in written form to perform specified duties effectively.
- Be able to work with limited supervision and interface with various members of the school district including Central Office staff, classroom teachers, PTA organizations, administrators, vendors, etc.
- Be able to lift, move, and transport various objects weighting up to 75 pounds, and work from a 6’ step ladder.
- Demonstrated ability in handling confidential matters in an ethical manner.
- Sound organization skills and an ability to recognize and change work priorities in a timely manner.
- Basic knowledge of TCP/IP and wi-fi connectivity.
