Construction Surveyor

Zoladz Construction Co., Inc. is a large civil works, paving, environmental, and trucking company located in Alden, NY between Buffalo and Rochester. We are seeking a qualified Construction Surveyor who is highly motivated and be able measure, inspect, and document property boundaries.

The Surveyor position includes working independently and also able to collaborate with all levels of employees, management and external agencies to maximize performance, problem solving and positive results in a large, fast paced Construction Company.

Responsibilities:

Perform site layout work, create and check as-built drawings, and stake out clearing boundaries and reference points on site

Utilize surveying instruments such as total stations and GPS to measure distances accurately

Create 2D and 3D models to generate line work, stakeout points, and machine control

Interface with cartographers, civil engineers, and project managers to develop detailed design documentation

Perform construction site stakeout and must be able to read and interpret site construction drawings

Examine land boundaries and property lines by researching previous land records, legal descriptions, survey records, land titles, and other documentation

Survey the site to gather information and precise measurements on geographic, hydrographic, and topographic features

Create digital maps and reports using GIS (geographic information systems) technology

Advise clients, architects, and construction managers of any on-site conditions, building defects, or potential environmental impacts within boundary lines

Requirements:

3+ years’ experience which should include a strong background in site construction layout, topographic surveying and work with civil engineering drawings

Experience with Trimble GPS instruments and/or Trimble Business Center

Job requires both office and outdoor work

Previous experience as a surveyor or in a similar role

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
