Major established and brand name company at a large manufacturing and distribution site located on the south side of the Atlanta, GA metropolitan area has a need for 2 Continuous Improvement Engineers. In the role will be responsible for leading plant-wide and department level performance improvement initiatives that positively impact cost, quality, safety, material flow, productivity and delivery metrics. Will develop the company’s culture through targeted training, shop floor Kaizen program, Small Group activities, and Kaizen Blitz events. Will be responsible for facilitating Kaizen and process improvement activities. Will work individually or with a team to complete projects following 8 Step Process based on Toyota Production System and Six Sigma methodologies. Will provide CI support to shop floor associates, production managers, and other engineering departments. Will design, develop, and implement improved work flows. Will partner with Manufacturing Engineering to create/update work instructions, visual aids, and process standards for production operations. Will train company associates in principles of Lean Manufacturing (5S, 8 Wastes, Value added/Non-value added analysis, poka yoke), Theoretical Value Production, PFMEA, and Formal Problem Solving techniques. Will mentor and develop CI department interns (quarterly rotation). Will provide direction to CI department technicians. Will develop and maintain time study documents. Will conducts Value Added Analysis (VAA). Will perform classic IE time studies and optimize labor line balance. Will identify and troubleshoot inefficient work processes. Will perform process analysis, design, and refinement. Will identify opportunities, participate, and complete projects as identified by CI department annual goals. Will perform value stream mapping. Will update master projects lists. Will also provide summary progress reports for management review. Will also champion Kaizen and Small Group programs. There is 2% profit sharing as well as 5% bonus potential and relocation assistance is also available.

  • 4 year technical degree required (Industrial Engineering degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in an engineering role in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 3 years Project Management experience
  • Minimum of 3 years Lean Six Sigma experience or 15-20 years of experience without a degree
  • CI experience in the warehouse area is a plus
  • Development of large scale material handling process (for the warehouse related position)
  • Experience selecting appropriate packaging for optimum delivery (for the warehouse related position)
  • Experience studying, analyzing current material handling / delivery systems and developing of appropriate solutions for CI, in collaboration with existing functional departments (for the warehouse related position)
  • Demonstrated application of engineering skills and problem solving techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with applied experience working in a team environment
  • Must be a good listener, have a positive attitude and be willing to learn
  • Capable of working with minimal direction and supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to apply Statistics and SPC
  • 5S experience
  • PFMEA experience
  • error proofing / Poke Yoke experience is desired
  • Kaizen event experience
  • Prefer Lean Certification
  • Prefer Certified Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Prefer Tier 1 automotive experience
  • Line balancing experience
  • Stop watch experience
